BYC
traces its roots to 1891 when the original
Baltimore Yacht Club was formed in
Baltimore City. Sue Island became its home
with the incorporation of Baltimore Yacht
Club, Inc. in 1939. At that time BYC was
actually an island with access via an hourly
ferry running from the mainland. Automobile
access was accomplished in 1945 with a
causeway linking Sue Island to the Holly
Neck Peninsula of Baltimore County. The
purpose of the club as stated in its
Articles of Incorporation, is "...the
promotion of boating to make the sport a
safe, clean, healthful and economic means
of recreation."

Baltimore Yacht Club's location and its facilities
are among the finest on the Chesapeake Bay. The view
from the "the hill" is exceptional whether from the
clubhouse, deck or the pool area. The large modern
clubhouse offers panoramic views from the bar,
dinning room, Captain's Lounge and lower level catering
area (Island View Room). A professional manager and
staff ensure quality dinning, beverage and catering
services.
** The spacious pool with diving board is tended
by professional lifeguards and is open from Memorial Day
through Labor Day. A snack bar offering light lunch and
refreshments (including snowballs) is adjacent to the
pool area. An outside service window to the clubhouse
bar is available on weekends. |
